At Pinner Tuition Centre we tutor children from Reception to Year 11. Our Primary English tuition concentrates on providing a strong foundation in the English curriculum so that children develop the core skills needed to be confident and competent at Reading and Writing.

Primary English tuition

Our English tutors understand that children can experience difficulty with various aspects of English and so they tailor their teaching to the individual needs of each child.

Following an initial educational assessment, the tutor will plan lessons which target any areas of weakness that need development. This could include any combination of the following: spelling, punction, grammar, reading, phonics, comprehension, creative writing, handwriting and vocabulary.

Qualified English tutors

The tutors at Pinner Tuition Centre are all fully qualified and experienced teachers. They are passionate about helping children to learn and to achieve their full potential. They will break the English topics down into manageable chunks to ensure that every child can experience success, no matter what their starting point is.

Children are taught in small groups so that each child will have one-to-one time with the tutor and other times when they can practice working independently but can summon help whenever they need it. This method has proved highly popular with students.

We value the support of parents at Pinner Tuition Centre. Parents are given feedback at the end of every lesson so you will know how your child is progressing. Tutors are available at the end of the lesson to answer your questions and provide advice and guidance.

Phonics screening check

Children in Year 1 have to sit a phonics screening check. This assesses their phonic knowledge of the 44 phonic sounds in the English language. Children will be asked to read and pronounce 40 words and non-words to assess their progression in phonics.

At Pinner Tuition Centre we will help to prepare children for the Year 1 Phonics test and provide them with a firm foundation in English.

English SATs preparation

Children in Year 6 have to sit SATs tests. The English SATs test consists of a Reading Paper and a Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) test. These tests will help to determine your child’s National Curriculum Level.

At Pinner Tuition Centre we can prepare children for SATs, providing practice with past papers and advice on how to move up a level. Lessons, as always, are individually planned so that children gain the most from their tuition with us.
